FIBER OPTICS

A fiber-optic cable, which is also known as optical-fiber cable, is used as an electrical cable to carry information between two ends. However, the speed of sending information is equal to light speed because it consists of one or more optical fibers. The fiber-optic cable is made by drawing glass or plastic and it’s covered in a protective tube. Hence, the cable would not be easily broken.

Different types of cables are used for different applications. For example, long-distance communications or providing a high-speed data link between different areas of a building.
